Once commissioned, the operation of a public space display requires continuity of service if investment in the capital equipment and the location is to be maximised. From provision of telecommunications services and interfacing with imagery producers to organisation of live events in the display space, blip can act in a contractor role or offer complete services. We have worked with most of the major agencies and production companies, but in addition blip has unique skills to deliver advanced creative that utilises to the full the interactive capabilities of real time image generation. Our work includes projects with broadcasters and news feed providers around the world whose information we have used to make real time display imagery - not simply "ticker tape" displays, but live animation. The operation of public displays also requires effective maintenance to ensure competitive image quality and long display lifetime. Content management, to change the imagery being shown - either between stored sequences or real time animation and live image and information feeds - is essential to retain viewer interest in the display and maximise advertising effectiveness. This scheduling can be programmed locally to operate the display on a time-of-day basis, but the advent of low cost internet connections means that displays can be operated completely remotely, with sophisticated content management controlled by operators at another location. In order to do this without risk of internet attack - leading to the display being disabled or used by unauthorised parties, blip has developed very secure encryption techniques and secure communication products to protect its clients' installations. Secure communication is also at the heart of blip's remote diagnostics, which enable operating statistics and key parameters of the display equipment and installation building management, such as cooling systems, to be continually checked. Both secure content management and remote diagnostics are serviced by blip's remote network management centres, offering a complete operating service for clients or, alternately, developing web site access which can be tailored to the needs of managers, advertisers, agencies and maintenance personnel. blip can either interface directly with clients' content producers and maintenance contractors or deliver systems that companies can operate themselves.
